Career and Aspirations Week June 2025

Career and Aspirations Week June 2025

Thank you so much for all of our visitors to school, parents and staff who spoke to the children about possible careers and how to follow their dreams!

So many people offered their time, so much so, it ran over into two weeks! It was truly fabulous; too many people to mention here, but please look at the Chatter feed for your child’s year group and have a look at the photographs.

Subjects covered during the two weeks:

  • Going to Liverpool University – how to get there and courses you can take
  • NHS jobs – supported by staff from  Alder Hey Children’s Hospital
  • Midwifery, The Women’s Hospital – showed what the job entailed, its purpose
  • Journalism – being a news reader, writing and reporting the news and festival events
  • Police
  • Air Hostess
  • Fitness Instructor, Health and Beauty, Hairdressing
  • Being a Carer  – supporting young people, Caring for LFC Football Players, Jobs at LFC
  • Engineering – on the Railways the different jobs you can have
  • Rail Safety – keeping safe on or near the railways
  • How the RNLI works – The role of an RNLI Lifeguard and how to keep safe on Crosby Beach in the holidays
  • Being a Musician, a Mechanic, a Teacher or an Estate Agent
  • Accountancy – what is it?
  • Mechanical Engineering – working at Jaguar, developing electric vehicles
  • Marine Engineering with OEG – diving beneath the sea, jobs under water – supporting setting up offshore wind farms.

Thank You for coming to school giving your time and sharing your experiences.

The children loved it and some have now thought of different careers and aspirations because of you!

Hopefully we shall see you next year!

The Summer HAF programme starts on the 21st July and there are lots of great activities happening over the school holidays. Children and young people, from reception to age 16, who are eligible for benefits related free school meals, will be able to access hundreds of activities throughout the Summer holidays including specific provision available for children with SEND or additional needs, all at no cost.

There’s a great range of activities across the city including cultural storytelling, pamper sessions, sewing, trips out, dance, mindfulness, swimming, football, board games, water sports, skateboarding, cycling, gymnastics, nature walks and dodgeball to name but a few!  A meal is included for every child attending.

Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School Review – March 2025 (1)

Attached is the feedback from the IQM assessment day. It is so lovely and everyone should be so proud of their achievements and the feedback we received. I have pulled out a few quotes that will inspire!
Thank you to you all; as the Assessor commented:

“OLI has a deep and continued commitment to inclusion.”

A parent said, ‘they don’t know how good they are because it’s so natural.’”

There is a lively atmosphere in the school canteen where excellent food is prepared by friendly staff.

Children attending OLI certainly get a good deal.”

“The IQM targets set and achieved at OLI serve to complement and enhance the inclusive ethos of the school.”

“They work well together and ‘enjoy a laugh.’ This is something that I personally value greatly. A happy staff means happy pupils.”

“I was particularly struck by how older children engage with each other in lessons. As 1 pupil speaks, the class would turn to show interest and display active listening.”

“It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with staff and children, and I feel inspired and enthused to trial ideas in my own school.”

“Comments from stakeholders’ centre around the school being ‘warm,’ ‘amazing,’ and ‘like home.’ I would fully agree with these quotes. All staff, including cooks, the site manager, learning support, and Governors, clearly articulate the same ethos and enjoy being there. External support staff expressed how this is ‘comfortably the best school they work in.”

“Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School is an exceptionally inclusive school.”

“It was lovely to see the early years children practising self-regulation through peer massage as part of the MISP programme. (Massage in Schools Programme). Clearly, this is embedded as a regular feature, and very young children were showing care and empathy towards their peers.”

“Observation of ZOR in Early Years area showed staff well-deployed to support children unable to fully mix with mainstream, but still receiving entitlement.”

“There is a lot of evidence that staff at OLI are very well trained,”

“Diversity in the curriculum is apparent”

Thank you everyone!

Whitechapel donations

Dear parents,
We have decided, as a school council, to support the Whitechapel centre this Advent. The Whitechapel centre for the homeless is a local charity and supports those in need within our community.

Next week from Monday 9th to Friday 13th our focus will be on collecting food donations. Here is a list of items you can bring:

  • Cereal
  • UHT milk
  • Tinned meals
  • Tinned food
  • Pot noodles
  • Noodles, rice and pulses
  • Cooking sauces
  • Biscuits, crisps and chocolate

We would ask, if you are able, for your child to bring in one item from the list above. The following week we will be focusing on collecting toiletries.

Thank you for your support
