Online Safety – App information

Dear Parents/Carers,

This is to inform you of an app that has come to light this week. The app is called Sweet Snap and there is an upgrade called Sweet snap lite.

This is a dangerous app to download. If downloaded it has been reported to also download additional software to your phone siltently. There have been instances of student’s photos being uploaded from the phone silently too. There are multiple adults accessing the chat and trying to talk to the chilldren in a sexual manner.

This has been reported to the Police but please can all parents/carers check their child’s phone and remove this app if they have it.

Please can you speak to your child about online safety.

If you would like additional resources to support this, then click the link below.

Thank you to every one!!!

Thank you for all of your support in raising funds for The Nest. Today as a whole school, we managed to raise £413.66!!!

This will make a big difference and I know they will be delighted!

School Fundraising Day for the Nest in Nairobi, Kenya. Thursday 24th October 2019

The Nest program reaches out to prevent the children of imprisoned mothers from fighting for survival on the streets. We rescue affected children and improve their living conditions during the imprisonment of their mothers. We rehabilitate and later reintegrate them and their released mothers with their extended families and society at large.

So please support us in raising funds for this worthy charity.

On Thursday 24th October 2019 we will be taking part in a variety of fundraising activities.

EYFS – sing a long

KS1 – Just Dance Extravaganza

LKS2 – Wacky clothes day.

UKS2 – AM – Handball / PM Disco.

All donations will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Mrs Rimmer

Young people, social media and mental health

Barnardo’s has published a report looking at what children, young people and practitioners say about the impact of social media on mental health and wellbeing and the social media experiences of vulnerable children in the UK. Findings from 80 Barnardo’s practitioners include: 79% said that 11-15 year olds that they work with have found cyberbullying impacted their mental health and wellbeing. Case studies and focus groups with children and young people found that those with additional life challenges are more susceptible to the negative impacts of social media as they are more likely to experience isolation from friends and family.
