Congratulations to Miss Topping and all of the staff and children on being awarded the sliver level of the History Quality Mark. This is a great achievement for the school and is well deserved.

Well done everyone !

Happy Feast Day!

Today we celebrated our feast day (slightly early), Fr Richard said mass for pupils, staff and parishioners. The children sang hymns to Our Lady as we remembered the feast of the Immaculate Conception and how Mary, our mother, is an example to us all. We would like to wish all the members of our school community a very happy feast day!

Match Report.

Today our girls football team played their third league match of the season against Our Lady’s Bishop Eton. The girls had won their first 2 games and were very excited to be playing. The match took place at Heron Eccles, the first match we’ve played on the new astroturf pitches there!

We could tell from the beginning that the game would be tough, OLBE were a very strong team with an exceptional number 7 who scored a long range effort very early on. The girls put up a brave defense but weren’t having many shots themselves. A penalty from Shelby was saved onto the post and the half ended 2-0!

OLBE’s number 7 continued to dictate the match, but that helped our keeper Paige to shine. She pulled off some stunning saves and even continued to play through injury. Another highlight of the game was the bravery in tackling shown especially by Mayar and Maria. Aaliyah hit the post in the second half and Sophie had an excellent long-range effort, but OLBE maintained their clean sheet. Their winger added a 3rd and 4th goal before assisting a 5th late on. The game ended 0-5.

The girls rallied together in defeat and didn’t sulk, looking forward instead to their cup game in 3 weeks time. Congratulations to OLBE for an excellent display and again thanks to KMC sports for arranging.

POTM: Paige Taylor. Bravery, commitment and playing in spite of fogetting her football boots!

A great day out at Anfield !

Nine of our children from years 5 and 6 were treated to a fantastic day out at the Liverpool vs Cardiff match at Anfield yesterday. This was part of the @red-neighbours free ticket initiative for schools. All of the children chosen had excellent school attendance last term.

Not only did they see a fantastic match, but they were fortunate enough to meet the players before the game. What an incredible experience for them …….and Mr Cotton and Mrs Burns who gave up their time to accompany the group. Mr Cotton still can’t believe that he shook Jurgen Klopp’s hand 🙂

I think this is a day they will all remember for a long time . Thank you to  “Red Neighbours” for making the day such a special one for the children .

Don’t forget that our After School providers run a holiday club during half term. Everton Kids Club are located in school and are open Monday to Friday for children from across the city. Today the children are accessing our extensive grounds and making full use of our outdoor facilities.

Our Lady Immaculate 8 – 2 Florence Melly

This afternoon, our seconds game of the 2018/2019 season was played in the under-11 girls’ league. The girls had take all 3 points from the first game and were looking to do the same against Florence Melly – a school that always produces strong teams.

The match began at a very high standard, with both defences shutting down attacks. A hand ball resulted in an early penalty for Florence Melly that was hit against the post! OLI had a good amount of possession but were struggling to get shots in on goal. A Florence Melly corner took an unlucky deflection off a defender that meant an own goal putting us 0-1 down! Striker Eva Kelly responded with an excellent run into the opponents’ penalty area before passing to Shelby Steele who was brought down – penalty to OLI! Shelby stepped up to take it and slotted it into the left corner, her 7th of the season! 1-1! That was how the first half ended.

The girls stepped onto the pitch determined to being a new-found energy into the game. They would suffer a setback though, as a handball gave away a 2nd penalty to Florence Melly! Keeper Paige Taylor got a good palm to the ball, but not enough to stop the ball from creeping into the corner to put Florence Melly in the lead for a second time!

With brilliant resilience shown by defenders Sophie and Maria, that proved to be the last goal OLI would concede. Shelby scored a close range goal after a scramble in the box to equalise again! OLI would then turn things around as year 5 Aaliyah Lamb scored again from close range. The girls went from strength to strength following this as Shelby scored her hat-trick goal; it was a stunning strike that crashed in off the bar!

At 4-2 up, we witnessed what may well go down as the goal of the season. Winger Ava Burrows slotted the ball to Aaliyah who attempted a shot from 20 yards out that Alisson himself wouldn’t have saved! It flew into the top corner and will surely be one of the standout goals that the KMC league will see. Skipper Ruby Richardson got involved shortly after by scoring both a 6th and 7th goal from close range, great to see the defender getting forward! In the dying moments of the game, a special moment came for year 5 Mayar who scored her first ever OLI goal from the edge of the area to make the score 8-2!

Special thanks to the organisers of the league and to the staff and students of Florence Melly, sportsmanship was excellent with girls checking their opponents were alright after tackles and cheering others up at the end of the game. The girls were credits to both schools.

POTM: Ruby Richardson – Leading her team with authority, showing dominance in the air and getting on the scoresheet twice!
