Remembrance Sunday Display

Remembrance Sunday Display

Fr Graeme called in to school today to  thank the children for the work they had displayed in church for Remembrance Sunday. Key Stage Two children researched the names of those soldiers, from our local community,  who died in WWI.  Some of the younger children drew pictures of how they imagined the soldiers might have looked and others made poppies and researched the symbolism of this flower.

Yesterday Mr Cotton’s class invited parents in to share with them all they had learnt about Remembrance Day and local heroes who had died in more recent conflict. At 11 o’clock we had two minutes of silence to remember all those who have died fighting for freedom.                                                                                                    DSC_0281 (1)DSC_0280 (1) DSC_0283 (1) DSC_0276 (1)DSC_0275 (1)

Damage to hall floor

Unfortunately the hall is currently out of action due to water damage over the half term holiday. Assemblies that have been planned for the next few weeks will either be rearranged or located in other parts of the building. Class teachers will inform parents within the next day or two if their child’s assembly is cancelled. We will keep you posted on repairs and when the hall is back in action. PE sessions will be outdoors (weather permitting) so please ensure children have their kit in school. Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.

Does the Tooth fairy have a SATNAV?

Fingers crossed that the tooth fairy can find her way to Winmarleigh Hall tonight as we have a tooth waiting to be collected! Mr Garth has been in touch with the Queen of the tooth fairies and she has said she will send her strongest and bravest fairy on this mission! The going rate is £2 apparently!

Marvellously Muddy!

Washing machines will be busy on Friday night after a muddy morning and afternoon at Winmarleigh Hall! Children are having a great time but are starting to flag after such a jam packed day. Tonights disco is the hot topic of conversation with the girls struggling to decide what to wear, no doubt our children will look amazing, slightly grubby but amazing!

PGL news!

This evening the children had a choice of gammon or fish fingers for tea. Salad, peas and sweetcorn were available but most children went for tomato sauce as their side order! This evening there was a fire drill and, as expected, all the children responded well and lined up without any fuss.

Children have just come back from their final activity of the night and are having a  quick shower before settling down for the night.

Arrived!

Year 3 have arrived at PGL where the sun is shining! The children are just having dinner before beginning their first activity.

PGL Updates

Mr Garth and the staff will be keeping you up to date with all the latest news from PGL using our NEW app and our website. We will post photographs of the different activities and these can be viewed on our gallery page.

Download our app from the App Store, search for Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School.

Macmillan

This afternoon we are having coffee and cakes in the hall in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, parents are invited to come along from 2.30pm!

A credit to the school

Text just in from Mr Cotton,

‘Glorious sunny day today. Kids all fine, although exhausted. It’s been a great trip and the kids have been brilliant. A credit to the school and their parents! . See you at 3pm’

Disco Fever!

Last night the children (and Miss Topping) got their best gear on ready to dance the night away at the legendary Colomendy disco. The children were exhausted after a long day of exciting activities but still managed to ‘throw some shapes’ on the dance floor!

Latest from Mr Cotton

Latest news from Mr Cotton is that the children are currently taking part in Nightline, Team Tech and Bouldering. They were full of energy after cereal and a full English breakfast and the weather is just perfect!

Sunny and Bright!

It’s sunny and bright in Colomendy this morning and the children are looking forward to a fun filled day of challenging activities. Last night the children had roast dinner for tea, they were up and out early this morning and looking forward to a cooked breakfast.

Text from Mr Cotton

‘Children are all in bed but not asleep! Very excited! All safe and sound and had a good day. Washing machines needed for Friday night though!’ from Mr Cotton

Very Excited!

Mr Cotton has text to say the children have enjoyed their first activity despite the light rain. The journey went as planned and thankfully ‘sick buckets’ weren’t needed!! We will keep you posted with the latest news as we receive it.

Arrived Safely!

Year 6 have arrived safely at Colomendy, children are busy making their beds and unpacking their bags before they begin their first activity and have tea. We will keep you posted on how the children and what they are up to!

Welcome Back!

Mrs Sergeant and all the staff were delighted to see so many happy faces this morning as we welcomed the children back. We have spent this morning catching up on all the summer holiday news and hearing about the children’s adventures over the past six weeks.

We welcome new families to school and three new members of staff. Mrs Gordon Morris teaches in Reception, Miss Whittaker in Year Two and Miss M. Gallagher in Year Three! We hope you all enjoy your first day in our school!

Back to school!

We are looking forward to welcoming all children back to school on Thursday 3rd Sept 2015. Hope you have all enjoyed your summer break and are ready for the new academic year!

A lovely message!

Before we broke up for the summer Key Stage One were studying plants and as part of this topic one of our parent’s came in to talk to the children about his job as a botanist. He also spoke to us about how to grow healthy plants and judged our sunflower competition, Miss Kennedy’s class won!

‘I wanted to write to thank you (and in particular Miss Kennedy and the other Y1 & Y2 staff), for the opportunity to come into school and talk to Y1 and Y2 about my work. I really enjoyed it and was inspired by the kids thirst for knowledge, and by how much they already knew! You are doing a great job. I enjoyed the questions that the pupils asked, some of them were really quite tough! I’m looking forward to coming in again to do some more outreach in the next academic year.’ Raj Whitlock
