James from ‘Free the Children ‘ came to school today to tell us about the organisation he works for. He told us the story of how it was set up in 1995 by some twelve year olds who knew they could make a difference to the world .He showed us a couple of films and inspired us to all make a difference.

Today was such a lovely morning and the children really enjoyed themselves! Thank you to all parents who were able to make it!

The winning team today was the red team! Well done to all the children for taking part, you were all great sports!

Nursery and Reception did a fantastic job racing today – well done! We had such a fun day with races including: superhero, running, teddy bear, jumping and egg and spoon. Thank you for all the support shown by mums, dads, nans, grandads and other family members who were able to make it. Photographs to follow in our EYFS summer gallery tomorrow and videos will be uploaded onto the vault.

All pupils in KS1 have been taking part in a sports competition this month. First, they are competing against each other (Level 1 competition) to see who is the best at balancing, bouncing, catching, launching, pitching, striking and skipping. Each child receives a total scores for all of the above skills combined.

These scores are then sent off to the Liverpool School Sports Partnership, who takes in results from all participating schools across Liverpool (Level 2 competition). Then, individual and school winners will be announced.

We have four individual winners from each of our KS1 classes:

Mrs McCarty’s class: Luke = 82

Miss Hughes’ class: Evie = 102

Miss Kennedy’s class: Tope = 104

LSSP KS1 Virtual Competition Results OLI

Key Stage One sports day will take place at 9.30am on Tuesday 30th June. Your child has received a letter to remind them of what team they are in and the colour of their t-shirts. If you can not provide your child with a t-shirt just let a member of the Key Stage One team know and we will provide your child with a wrist band to represent their team.

Children from across Key Stage One have been selected to take part in a performance in the Philharmonic Hall. The performance will take place on Monday 29th June 2015. We have already received most of the permission slips back, thank you for your co-operation. Your child will not need a packed lunch as school will provide them with one. You may want to provide them with a cold drink as it does get a little hot in the hall!

Just a reminder that tomorrow is own clothes day and all donations made will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our Nursery and Reception children visited Crosby beach and marina today. We had so much fun searching for treasure, visiting the iron men, playing football, exploring the adventure park and enjoying a picnic in the park. The sun even made an appearance for us! Congratulations to our KS2 Tri-Golf team, who won their competition at Cropteth Hall on Thursday! The school was represented by pupils from across KS2, with everyone of them performing excellently!

A special mention goes to Joe, who scored crucial points in the final round to ultimately win the competition for OLI. Well done golfers!!

‘This is an outstanding kitchen service’ was just one of the comments at a recent audit of our school meals. The meals were graded as excellent with children commenting on the quality and the quantity of food available. The auditor felt that the canteen was ‘an outstanding space for the pupils and staff’ and that service was ‘relaxed and well organised’.
Mrs Sergeant is thrilled that all the hard work to make dining in OLI a pleasurable experience has paid off! Bon Appetit!
