Year 6 Colomendy – Thursday night

Year 6 Colomendy – Thursday night

The children have just enjoyed a great disco with lots of singing and dancing to end the day on a high. They have just settled into their rooms, worn out from the last day and a half’s activities. Tomorrow sees caving for all groups, amongst other activities, before we depart at approximately 1:30pm. A gallery will be uploaded to the website over the weekend, but a selection of group shots from the disco are below. We will be in touch with school on our journey home tomorrow to update on any time change in the scheduled return time of between 2:30 and 3pm. Don’t forget there is a macmillan afternoon tea event in school, so please feel free to go along whilst you wait for our return, or come along afterwards.

Year 6 Colomendy Update

Sorry for some lack of communication, signal is very hard to come by and there is limited time when staff can get access to the wifi (which is also quite temperamental!). We will keep updating Twitter and the school app when we can.

This morning the children took part in bushcraft shelter building, Jacobs’ ladder, fencing and the 3G swing. As I type, the children have just finished lunch and are off to their next activities, including problem-solving, balance beam and low-ropes. The children’s behaviour has been exemplary today, with another school complimenting our pupils on their good manners!

The disco is on tonight – I will try and get some time to upload more pictures afterwards.

Mr Garth.

School Ambassador and Council Elections

Wednesday saw a tough day of campaigning by our potential school ambassadors, leaving lots of food for thought for the KS2 pupils going into election day on Thursday. In Friday’s golden assembly, it was announced that Gabriella and Reece were elected as School Ambassadors and all the staff would like to wish them the best of luck in their role.

Well done to all the pupils who put themselves forward during the elections.

Dan Carden MP Visits School!

Thank you to Dan Carden MP for visiting school this week, with our school governor Mr Byrne. Dan was fortunate enough to meet our Year 6 pupils running for school ambassador and got a sneak peak into their speeches which he was very impressed with!

Our New Playground Leaders!

Our new playground leaders have been trained and are ready to start their new roles on Monday. They are looking forward to teaching the children new games and helping the adults on the yard!

Lower Key Stage Two welcome meeting

Just a reminder that we have our welcome meeting on Thursday 14th September 2017 at 4.30pm in the LKS2 area. We look forward to seeing you there!

Liverpool vs Arsenal – Sunday 27th August

A reminder for parents of children coming to the Liverpool vs Arsenal match on Sunday 27th August that the meeting time is 2:50pm at the school gates. A member of school staff will be there to confirm contact numbers and pick up after the game is 6:10pm back at school.

Please can you ensure that your child has eaten before the match and does not bring any money, but they may bring a small snack to have at half time.

Thank you.

Reception and Sports Day – PM Cancelled

Sports day this afternoon has been cancelled due to more rain and slippy surfaces making the event unsafe. We will do our upmost to reschedule for before the summer break.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

LFC Ticket Initiative Scheme

A group of Year 5s were involved in a Champions League style draw to choose the four LFC matches our pupils will be able to watch next year. They chose: Arsenal, West Ham United, Newcastle United and Southampton.

Merseyside School Games – Boccia

Well done to our Boccia teams, who represented Liverpool today. The Merseyside School Games bring together the champions of each borough (Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens and Halton) to battle it out for the title.

Our teams managed a sixth place finish and they can hold their heads high after a very successful season.

Equality and Diversity

On our equality and diversity page there are some new definitions, this is a guide to the language we are using in school to explain when questions arise. We hope you find them useful!

Year 5/6 Sports Day – Cancelled

Due to the weather, we are cancelling the Year 5/6 sports day. The ground hasn’t dried up enough and it is unsafe to hold races on the yard. A new date will be organised this week, with further information to follow.

The pupils will still be selling their products they made during Enterprise Week. This will take place in the hall between 1:45 and 2:15pm, then again at 3:30pm.

We hope to see lots of you there!

Attendance Reward!

We hope our pupils enjoyed their 100% attendance party this afternoon! It would be great to see even more pupils achieving 100% for our final summer term initiative in a few weeks time!

Attendance Awards

Children who achieved 100% attendance during last term’s initiative have been invited to an afternoon tea party next Thursday. This half term’s initiative began this week, with 100% attenders winning a trip to the park!

Well done to Miss Gilchrist’s class for winning the best class attendance for the first summer term. They now have £48.10 to spend!

Mr Garth’s class enjoyed a picnic, spending their £20 reward from earlier in the year!
