Miss Short RIP

Miss Short RIP

It is with sadness that we learnt this weekend of the passing of Miss Carmel Short.

Miss Short was a teacher at our school from 1982 to 2010 and many of our families will remember her with great fondness, as do many of our staff who worked alongside her, or were taught by her.

She had a great passion for history, astronomy and literature, particularly for fantasy fiction and led our Harry Potter Club for many years.

Miss Short had a bubbly personality and a great sense of humour which she shared with the children and consequently many of our parents who are past pupils always ask after Miss Short and talk about her as “one of my favourite teachers”.

On behalf of the governors, staff and pupils, both past and present, I will be sending a Mass card to her family and as a school community we will keep her family and friends in our prayers.

May she rest in peace.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Sergeant

So proud of our EYS writers

I was so pleased to give 3 head teachers awards to a group of children from Mrs Roberts’ class today . The girls get in early every morning and practice writing all of the words that they know . Today they wrote more than 20 words! Well done keep it up!

I challenged the rest of the class to see if they could write more than 20 words (or even more) tomorrow!

Christmas Nativities and Carol Services

Congratulations to all of the children who performed last week. All of the performances were of a very high standard. Each performance was so different however each group retold the Christmas story beautifully and reminded us all of the true meaning of Christmas.

I would like to thank all of the parents for their wonderful support as usual  and here are a few of the comments made following each production.

“I really enjoyed the play . Absolutely brilliant and I am so proud of my King !” A key stage 1 parent

“Another fantastic production . I have been to see all of my three grandchildren and each performance has been outstanding. The children and staff have worked very hard” A school grandparent

“It was a wonderful performance by all of the children. The singing was brilliant and the quality never fails to amaze me. It was so good being in church this year.” A key stage 2 parent.

“I particularly enjoyed the traditional nativity …..I could hear every word and I sang along to all of the carols . It took me back to my own school days (a long time ago ) Thank you to all of the staff and children .” A key stage 2 grandparent .

“The children did so well. I am looking forward to the next one.” A foundation stage parent.
