A hearty full English breakfast, which the children thoroughly enjoyed, kick started our day. First activity-raft building, lets hope we all stay dry!

We couldn’t have wished for better weather today as our Yr 4 children make their Holy Communion. Fr Richard celebrated two masses, the first in Our Lady Immaculate at midday and the second at St Anthony’s. The children and their families have been preparing for months (with the help of Mrs Shepherd) to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion. Mrs Sergeant and all the staff would like to thank Fr Richard and Mrs Shepherd for the support they have given in helping make today such a special occasion for our children.
Today we welcomed faces old and new, lovely to see so many children back and ready to learn and truly delighted to welcome new children in to our school family. The Spring term is always a busy one so daily attendance is essential, lets aim for 100%!
Don’t forget its Christmas jumper day on Friday plus Christmas dinner day too! Cook has begun to decorate the canteen and the kitchen staff have their festive pinnies washed and ironed! #thebestday
Today we celebrated our feast day (slightly early), Fr Richard said mass for pupils, staff and parishioners. The children sang hymns to Our Lady as we remembered the feast of the Immaculate Conception and how Mary, our mother, is an example to us all. We would like to wish all the members of our school community a very happy feast day!
Don’t forget that our After School providers run a holiday club during half term. Everton Kids Club are located in school and are open Monday to Friday for children from across the city. Today the children are accessing our extensive grounds and making full use of our outdoor facilities.
Looks fab fun today!
Miss Hughes is claiming a school residential record as ALL children were asleep by 10pm last night, They slept soundly and are now fed and watered, packed and off for their first activity of the day! Washing machines at the ready parents, your princes and princesses will be back soon!
Year 3 are up and about and on their first activity this morning. Miss Hughes said that all children were asleep by midnight, a peaceful night was had by all however one group of early risers were so keen to begin the day that they woke at 5am! A glorious Autumn morning at Winmarleigh Hall began with a full English breakfast to set our adventurers up for the day.
More updates as we receive them.
This afternoon, our seconds game of the 2018/2019 season was played in the under-11 girls’ league. The girls had take all 3 points from the first game and were looking to do the same against Florence Melly – a school that always produces strong teams.
The match began at a very high standard, with both defences shutting down attacks. A hand ball resulted in an early penalty for Florence Melly that was hit against the post! OLI had a good amount of possession but were struggling to get shots in on goal. A Florence Melly corner took an unlucky deflection off a defender that meant an own goal putting us 0-1 down! Striker Eva Kelly responded with an excellent run into the opponents’ penalty area before passing to Shelby Steele who was brought down – penalty to OLI! Shelby stepped up to take it and slotted it into the left corner, her 7th of the season! 1-1! That was how the first half ended.
The girls stepped onto the pitch determined to being a new-found energy into the game. They would suffer a setback though, as a handball gave away a 2nd penalty to Florence Melly! Keeper Paige Taylor got a good palm to the ball, but not enough to stop the ball from creeping into the corner to put Florence Melly in the lead for a second time!
With brilliant resilience shown by defenders Sophie and Maria, that proved to be the last goal OLI would concede. Shelby scored a close range goal after a scramble in the box to equalise again! OLI would then turn things around as year 5 Aaliyah Lamb scored again from close range. The girls went from strength to strength following this as Shelby scored her hat-trick goal; it was a stunning strike that crashed in off the bar!
At 4-2 up, we witnessed what may well go down as the goal of the season. Winger Ava Burrows slotted the ball to Aaliyah who attempted a shot from 20 yards out that Alisson himself wouldn’t have saved! It flew into the top corner and will surely be one of the standout goals that the KMC league will see. Skipper Ruby Richardson got involved shortly after by scoring both a 6th and 7th goal from close range, great to see the defender getting forward! In the dying moments of the game, a special moment came for year 5 Mayar who scored her first ever OLI goal from the edge of the area to make the score 8-2!
Special thanks to the organisers of the league and to the staff and students of Florence Melly, sportsmanship was excellent with girls checking their opponents were alright after tackles and cheering others up at the end of the game. The girls were credits to both schools.
POTM: Ruby Richardson – Leading her team with authority, showing dominance in the air and getting on the scoresheet twice!
Congratulations to all the children from the following classes, 100% attendance today!
2 year old Caterpillar Room, Miss Doherty, Mrs Bradley, Mrs Rimmer, Mrs Burns, Miss Gallagher, Mr Fairclough and Mr Cotton. KEEP IT UP!
97.4% attendance for the whole school. Thank you to our parents and carers for your support.
Many parents have been asking about photographs from the recent visit to Colomendy by Yr 6. We have shared a number of photos on our Gallery page, more photographs will be added in the coming days. Enjoy!
Woke to a beautiful crisp, early autumn morning here in North Wales. Had to almost drag the children out of bed but they’ve been well fed and are ready for another day of activities including caving and the infamous 3G Swing!
We expect to be home approximately 2.30pm.
Mrs Sergeant is heading back from Colomendy after spending a fun evening with the children and staff. All the children have enjoyed a very busy day which ended with the legendary Colomendy disco. Mrs Sergeant said all the children were fine but exhausted and an early night is on the cards.
After a busy, but fun day, children (and teachers) are flagging now. Hot dogs were popular at lunch time and tonight’s Disco is the topic of conversation! Will Mr Cotton have the energy to ‘floss’ the night away? Keep posted to find out!
“Children slept very well, except for a couple of boys who tried to go for breakfast at 4am! Full English to start the day, weather is beautiful; perfect for a day of adventure”.
