Sacramental Preparation for Reconciliation and Holy Communion Spring – Summer 2026

Reconciliation

Before the children make their First Holy Communion in May, they will undertake preparation for Reconciliation; and will receive this sacrament during the school day in Lent. Further information will be shared with you closer to the time.

Holy Communion

Letters for families wanting their child to make their First Holy Communion in May this year, have been sent out by the Year 4 class teachers. If you have not returned the reply slip, please do so the end of this this week. Thank you so much to those families who have responded and already returned them to school.

If you have any questions about your child’s sacramental preparation please speak to Mrs Brown.

If there are any families of children in years 5 or 6 who would like their child to also be involved, please indicate your intention to Mrs. Brown, as they too are very welcome to join the programme. Thank You!

The date for the celebration of their First Holy Communion will take place on Thursday 21st May at St Anthony’s Church, Scotland Road. Further details will be shared closer to the time.

National Year of Reading 2026

This year 2026, is a designated National Year of Reading. Rediscover the joy of reading!

Let us celebrate together reading for pleasure and reading together as a family. Help to make reading an enjoyable activity to do at home and in school. Together we can build confident, curious readers in our homes and in our classrooms. It just takes 5-10 minutes reading at home each day to make a difference.

Follow your child’s passions – football, music, dance, gaming…ignite that spark that brings reading to life!

Reading doesn’t just mean books. It includes stories, ideas, information texts, digital, audio and graphic novels…
