Reception

Welcome to Reception.

The team working in Reception are; Mrs Stalker and Miss Doherty who will be supported by Miss Burke, Miss Hanlon, Miss Molloy and Miss Martin. We are very excited for this upcoming year and starting our first term together! We will keep you updated with the children’s learning via our year group Twitter feed @oli_reception

We ask that you please try and read with your child every night. Really focus on asking questions about their book as this will help them with their reading comprehension. Most importantly, you will spend some quality time with your child and instil a love of reading for pleasure!

We have a year group email where teachers will be available for support and they can be contacted on reception@oliprimaryschool.co.uk

Home Learning

Children will be given a new home reading book, linking to their phonics learning for the week, each Friday. Please read and re-read this book with your child to develop their reading and fluency. They will also choose a story book to take home to share with you. Please bring book bags in to school each day.

Every Friday we will also send home a ‘Vocabulary Flower’ with your child. This will contain new words we will introduce, linking to our learning and will support your child’s vocabulary development. Please talk about these words with your child and their meanings.

Sharing Learning

We will share your child’s learning with you via the App, SeeSaw. We may also send some home learning activities through the App so please speak to staff if you need some support accessing SeeSaw.

Useful websites to support your child at home:

We use the Little Wandle phonics programme to support your child’s reading development. Here is a link to the parent page, which contains some really useful videos and resources of how to support your child’s phonic development at home.
