Examples of music at OLI

Our lady Immaculate sings it’s way to success through working in partnership with Resonate Music Education Hub!

At Our Lady Immaculate we embrace new technology and alot of our music curriculum is delivered through the digital music resource Charanga. The children work through a spiral of progression making music through singing, playing, improvising and composing. We are currently working with Mrs Naylor, a specialist teacher, from Resonate music education hub based at Notre Dame Catholic College. The Charanga scheme enables children to access the Music Curriculum  through exciting lessons, engaging children in interactive music making. Mrs Naylor works alongside staff in order to develop skills, confidence and greater subject knowledge to ensure all elements of the music curriculum are delivered.

We are loving having Mrs Naylor back in the classroom this year! Here are some pictures of the fantastic music sessions that have been happening throughout school this term…

Nursery and Reception have loved their music sessions with Mrs Naylor this half term, They love playing ‘Guess the Nursery Rhyme’ as well as exploring instruments and movement.

Year 2 have focused on ensuring they hold their beater correctly, this really makes a difference to the sound of the notes as they play. They can now read and play the notes correctly in a sequence!

Year 3 and 4 have been working super hard to read notation, play at least 3 notes on a tuned percussion instrument and also have a go at composing their own work!

Year 5 are always showing off their talents during music sessions, they are brilliant at listening and appraising musical pieces as well as composing their own.

The children love using the new glockenspiels. They work together to follow different melodies and also challenge themselves to create their own.
