In Lower Key Stage Two there are four classes: Miss Hughes and Miss Gallagher teach Year 3, Mrs Burns and Mr Fairclough teach Year 4. We also have 5 learning support assistants: Miss Stinson, Mrs Smith, Miss Barnes, Mrs Graves and Mrs Thomas, who help to facilitate the children’s learning in class, 1-1 or small group interventions.
The staff work hard to provide exciting and engaging lessons which meet the rigour of the national curriculum. Curriculum maps for year 3 and 4 can be found on the curriculum page.
We place a huge emphasis on literacy, numeracy, creative and sporting activities. We listen to pupils’ ideas and plan activities which tap into the interests and abilities of the children to stimulate learning.
Specialist teachers support us in some areas of the curriculum, namely PE, Music and Spanish.
We expect and insist upon high standards of behaviour in Lower Key Stage Two and are proud to say that children and staff enjoy excellent relationships.
The children’s education will have been subject to some disruption because of the Covid pandemic but it has been encouraging to see so many pupils engaging with the home learning activities during lockdown. Our recovery curriculum has been carefully designed by school and will support the children while in lower key stage 2.
