We enjoyed spending time with the residents this afternoon and joined in with singing!

This morning year 3 took the time to learn about the importance of Remembrance Day.

Today with the LFC Foundation coach, year 3 learned how to pass the ball with control, speed and focus.

What a great start to anti-bullying week in year 3 by celebration antibullying week.

Today the Eco council worked with ‘Food for Thought’ within our school grounds. They supported us with our school allotments and helped us to tidy them up and find any produce that was ready.
They will be supporting us over the next few weeks to establish our school greenhouse and help to get it ready for children to use throughout the school.

Today year 3 worked with the LFC Foundation for their PE lessons in football.

As part of our mechanisms topic in DT, Year 3 have made pneumatic toys. The children have learnt that pneumatic toys work using compressed air to create movement. When the children blew air through a straw into the balloon, the monsters mouth opened. #DT #year3

Thank you to all our grown ups for helping us decorate our pumpkins for our pumpkin patch display.

This half term, year 3 have been learning how to send e-mails in computing.

This half term, Year 3 have learnt about reading the pitch on the stave, reading line and space notes and starting by playing a B (bang in the middle B) #music #year3

How creative are the pumpkins at the OLI pumpkin patch

Year 3 have had a great time making their DT pneumatic toy.

Year 3 used computers to learn about emails and how they are used as a way of communication. They created an email to our head teacher and explained what equipment they would like to see as part of our play curriculum. They then explored elements of staying safe online and how emails can sometimes be spam/ unwanted communication.

Year 3 created a dance sequence using counts of 8 for the theme of ‘super heroes’. They then performed this to their class mates.

Year 3 used a large timeline to explore key events from the time period of Doctor Duncan. They explored key vocabulary of century and decade and discussed where events took place and where to place them on the scaled timeline.

Today year 3 explored a range of materials to see which was magnetic or not. They predicted and then tested out their theory. They discovered that not all metals are magnetic.

The Eco council enjoyed spending time at Crompton Court this week. We played bingo with the residents and enjoyed chatting with them, finding out about their lives!

Today, the Eco Council visited the Rotunda to deliver food for their food bank. We then made crafts and explored the gardens.

We continue to be an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence !🎉🍾🎆

Attached is the feedback from the IQM assessment day. It is so lovely and everyone should be so proud of their achievements and the feedback we received. It is attached for you to all read in full detail BUT I have pulled out a few quotes that will inspire!
Thank you to you all; as the Assessor commented:

“OLI has a deep and continued commitment to inclusion.”

A parent said, ‘they don’t know how good they are because it’s so natural.’”

There is a lively atmosphere in the school canteen where excellent food is prepared by friendly staff.

Children attending OLI certainly get a good deal.”

“The IQM targets set and achieved at OLI serve to complement and enhance the inclusive ethos of the school.”

“They work well together and ‘enjoy a laugh.’ This is something that I personally value greatly. A happy staff means happy pupils.”

“I was particularly struck by how older children engage with each other in lessons. As 1 pupil speaks, the class would turn to show interest and display active listening.”

“It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with staff and children, and I feel inspired and enthused to trial ideas in my own school.”

“Comments from stakeholders’ centre around the school being ‘warm,’ ‘amazing,’ and ‘like home.’ I would fully agree with these quotes. All staff, including cooks, the site manager, learning support, and Governors, clearly articulate the same ethos and enjoy being there. External support staff expressed how this is ‘comfortably the best school they work in.”

“Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School is an exceptionally inclusive school.”

“It was lovely to see the early years children practising self-regulation through peer massage as part of the MISP programme. (Massage in Schools Programme). Clearly, this is embedded as a regular feature, and very young children were showing care and empathy towards their peers.”

“Observation of ZOR in Early Years area showed staff well-deployed to support children unable to fully mix with mainstream, but still receiving entitlement.”

“There is a lot of evidence that staff at OLI are very well trained,”

“Diversity in the curriculum is apparent”

Thank you everyone!
