We have loved exploring dynamics, levels, actions and expression during our dance sessions. We have been able to follow, create and perform movement in counts of eight to create a piece of choreography based on our class text ‘Where the Wild Things are.’

“There is a lively atmosphere in the school canteen where excellent food is prepared by friendly staff. ”
“Children attending OLI certainly get a good deal.”
“The IQM targets set and achieved at OLI serve to complement and enhance the inclusive ethos of the school.”
“They work well together and ‘enjoy a laugh.’ This is something that I personally value greatly. A happy staff means happy pupils.”
“I was particularly struck by how older children engage with each other in lessons. As 1 pupil speaks, the class would turn to show interest and display active listening.”
“It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with staff and children, and I feel inspired and enthused to trial ideas in my own school.”
“Comments from stakeholders’ centre around the school being ‘warm,’ ‘amazing,’ and ‘like home.’ I would fully agree with these quotes. All staff, including cooks, the site manager, learning support, and Governors, clearly articulate the same ethos and enjoy being there. External support staff expressed how this is ‘comfortably the best school they work in.”
“Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School is an exceptionally inclusive school.”
“It was lovely to see the early years children practising self-regulation through peer massage as part of the MISP programme. (Massage in Schools Programme). Clearly, this is embedded as a regular feature, and very young children were showing care and empathy towards their peers.”
“Observation of ZOR in Early Years area showed staff well-deployed to support children unable to fully mix with mainstream, but still receiving entitlement.”
“There is a lot of evidence that staff at OLI are very well trained,”
“Diversity in the curriculum is apparent”

PE- Gymnastics
Rugby Tots
We have enjoyed our PE sessions with Rugby Tots. We have learnt how to throw and catch the rugby ball with a partner and around a circle. We learnt how to score a try and how to work together as part of a team.
To finish our dance sessions linked to the Circus, we used hoops to choreograph a routine. We had to keep contact with the hoop, use different levels and think about the ways we could move our bodies as a team!
Great fun today in PE. Year 3 leaned how to do the barrel, straight and forward roll

Today Year 2 started dance! We learnt a new routine which was based on how the weather makes us feel and movements to match these feelings.
We have had lots of fun focusing on ball skills with the Rugby Tots coaches and gymnastics with Miss Whittaker. The children have learned to work as part of a team, persevere to practice
tricky skills and talk about what they learned using key vocabulary.
