Spring 1 Nursery Highlights

This half term in Nursery we have really enjoyed sensory play in the moon sand and practising our fine motor skills by painting and drawing. We also really enjoyed dressing up time and taking on the roles of ‘People Who Help Us’.

We continue to be an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence !🎉🍾🎆

Attached is the feedback from the IQM assessment day. It is so lovely and everyone should be so proud of their achievements and the feedback we received. It is attached for you to all read in full detail BUT I have pulled out a few quotes that will inspire!
Thank you to you all; as the Assessor commented:

“OLI has a deep and continued commitment to inclusion.”

A parent said, ‘they don’t know how good they are because it’s so natural.’”

There is a lively atmosphere in the school canteen where excellent food is prepared by friendly staff.

Children attending OLI certainly get a good deal.”

“The IQM targets set and achieved at OLI serve to complement and enhance the inclusive ethos of the school.”

“They work well together and ‘enjoy a laugh.’ This is something that I personally value greatly. A happy staff means happy pupils.”

“I was particularly struck by how older children engage with each other in lessons. As 1 pupil speaks, the class would turn to show interest and display active listening.”

“It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with staff and children, and I feel inspired and enthused to trial ideas in my own school.”

“Comments from stakeholders’ centre around the school being ‘warm,’ ‘amazing,’ and ‘like home.’ I would fully agree with these quotes. All staff, including cooks, the site manager, learning support, and Governors, clearly articulate the same ethos and enjoy being there. External support staff expressed how this is ‘comfortably the best school they work in.”

“Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School is an exceptionally inclusive school.”

“It was lovely to see the early years children practising self-regulation through peer massage as part of the MISP programme. (Massage in Schools Programme). Clearly, this is embedded as a regular feature, and very young children were showing care and empathy towards their peers.”

“Observation of ZOR in Early Years area showed staff well-deployed to support children unable to fully mix with mainstream, but still receiving entitlement.”

“There is a lot of evidence that staff at OLI are very well trained,”

“Diversity in the curriculum is apparent”

Thank you everyone!

Year 4 Aspirations and Careers Week.

Today Year 4 welcomed 2 midwives into school to talk about their careers and how they perform their daily jobs. We were so interested in how they learnt how to be mid wives and how they helped mums and deliver their babies.

Thank you so much Jen & Imogen.

Year 4 learn the recovery position.

Today Year 4 looked at how to complete the recovery position to help save other people’s lives. We had a turn with our friends. We remembered to check if the person could respond and then ask someone else to call an ambulance whilst we attempt the recovery position.

The Summer HAF programme starts on the 21st July and there are lots of great activities happening over the school holidays.

Children and young people, from reception to age 16, who are eligible for benefits related free school meals, will be able to access hundreds of activities throughout the Summer holidays including specific provision available for children with SEND or additional needs, all at no cost. There’s a great range of activities across the city including cultural storytelling, pamper sessions, sewing, trips out, dance, mindfulness, swimming, football, board games, water sports, skateboarding, cycling, gymnastics, nature walks and dodgeball to name but a few!  A meal is included for every child attending.

There is a central booking system to make it easier for you to find and book the activities. You can find out where your nearest scheme is by clicking on this link https://eequ.org/liverpoolhaf or by using the QR code which will take you to the Liverpool HAF page and the easy to fill in booking system.  You can search by age, provider or date.  There is a handy booking help video here – How to make a booking
