We welcomed parents and friends from all over the school to talk to us about a variety of careers. We listened very carefully to Mr Lawler who is a Personal Advisor. We enjoyed learning about how we can support our communities and train to also be a PA. Thank you Kenny !
Today Year 4 welcomed 2 midwives into school to talk about their careers and how they perform their daily jobs. We were so interested in how they learnt how to be mid wives and how they helped mums and deliver their babies.
Thank you so much Jen & Imogen.
To complete our learning about the local significant person ‘Kitty Wilkinson’, we walked to Everton Park to visit her memorial bench. We shared and discussed the reasons she is significant and explored other ways people may remember her too!
ASD Social Interactions / Play Workshop
Thank you to all of our parents who helped us to create models of the Titanic and the cabins onboard the ship!
We loved displaying them in our school museum!
To start our new topic in history, year 3 explored the earliest ancient civilisations. They used a timeline to place on the different civilisations and noticed that many of these spanned across thousands of years.
“A parent said, ‘they don’t know how good they are because it’s so natural.’”
“There is a lively atmosphere in the school canteen where excellent food is prepared by friendly staff. ”
“Children attending OLI certainly get a good deal.”
“The IQM targets set and achieved at OLI serve to complement and enhance the inclusive ethos of the school.”
“They work well together and ‘enjoy a laugh.’ This is something that I personally value greatly. A happy staff means happy pupils.”
“I was particularly struck by how older children engage with each other in lessons. As 1 pupil speaks, the class would turn to show interest and display active listening.”
“It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with staff and children, and I feel inspired and enthused to trial ideas in my own school.”
“Comments from stakeholders’ centre around the school being ‘warm,’ ‘amazing,’ and ‘like home.’ I would fully agree with these quotes. All staff, including cooks, the site manager, learning support, and Governors, clearly articulate the same ethos and enjoy being there. External support staff expressed how this is ‘comfortably the best school they work in.”
“Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School is an exceptionally inclusive school.”
“It was lovely to see the early years children practising self-regulation through peer massage as part of the MISP programme. (Massage in Schools Programme). Clearly, this is embedded as a regular feature, and very young children were showing care and empathy towards their peers.”
“Observation of ZOR in Early Years area showed staff well-deployed to support children unable to fully mix with mainstream, but still receiving entitlement.”
“There is a lot of evidence that staff at OLI are very well trained,”
“Diversity in the curriculum is apparent”
Thank you everyone!
As we have been learning all about her, we walked to Everton Park to explore the memorial and recall facts we already know!

This week we looked at how school has changed since our grandparents where little and then recorded what we had found out. @csergeant3 @DeputyOLI #oliphistory

Today year 3 worked collaboratively to order key events from the Victorian time period when Dr Duncan was alive. We then placed them on a scaled timeline which covered a century and counted in 10year intervals #oliphistory @DeputyOLI @DeputyOLI @oli_primary
During our history lesson we looked in detail at cars over a period of 100 years, we then created a timeline using maths equipment to show the decades and years @csergeant3 #oliphistory ??️☺️
