We continue to be an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence !🎉🍾🎆

Attached is the feedback from the IQM assessment day. It is so lovely and everyone should be so proud of their achievements and the feedback we received. It is attached for you to all read in full detail BUT I have pulled out a few quotes that will inspire!
Thank you to you all; as the Assessor commented:

“OLI has a deep and continued commitment to inclusion.”

A parent said, ‘they don’t know how good they are because it’s so natural.’”

There is a lively atmosphere in the school canteen where excellent food is prepared by friendly staff.

Children attending OLI certainly get a good deal.”

“The IQM targets set and achieved at OLI serve to complement and enhance the inclusive ethos of the school.”

“They work well together and ‘enjoy a laugh.’ This is something that I personally value greatly. A happy staff means happy pupils.”

“I was particularly struck by how older children engage with each other in lessons. As 1 pupil speaks, the class would turn to show interest and display active listening.”

“It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with staff and children, and I feel inspired and enthused to trial ideas in my own school.”

“Comments from stakeholders’ centre around the school being ‘warm,’ ‘amazing,’ and ‘like home.’ I would fully agree with these quotes. All staff, including cooks, the site manager, learning support, and Governors, clearly articulate the same ethos and enjoy being there. External support staff expressed how this is ‘comfortably the best school they work in.”

“Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School is an exceptionally inclusive school.”

“It was lovely to see the early years children practising self-regulation through peer massage as part of the MISP programme. (Massage in Schools Programme). Clearly, this is embedded as a regular feature, and very young children were showing care and empathy towards their peers.”

“Observation of ZOR in Early Years area showed staff well-deployed to support children unable to fully mix with mainstream, but still receiving entitlement.”

“There is a lot of evidence that staff at OLI are very well trained,”

“Diversity in the curriculum is apparent”

Thank you everyone!

Year 3 used the atlas today to search for rivers across the world including the river Nile and the Amazon River. They used the index page and grid references to locate them and found out where they were located in the world.

A few more pictures from International Mother Language Day, including delicious sweet treats from Poland and Libya!

A huge well done to our children for sharing items and speaking about their culture and home language for International Mother Language Day!

We welcomed some parents into class to celebrate International Mother Language Day.

The children loved trying some traditional Polish food as well as learning some words in Polish led by the children. They also enjoyed listening to a fairy tale in Turkish. Happy international Mother Tongue Day!

We were so lucky to have parents from Portugal come and teach us all about their culture. They even shared some famous Portuguese tarts with the class. Thankyou for joining our mother language day.

International Mother Language Day in Year 2. We are hugely grateful to all our parents for teaching us about their home language.

What a wonderful morning we have had listening to parents and children speak about their mother language and cultural traditions! Thank you so much to our parents for sharing.

We had a lovely afternoon learning to write our names and our birthdays in Chinese as part of our International Mother Language Day celebrations. We enjoyed seeing how all of our names looked!

Exploring different types of maps with our partners and talking about what makes a good map.

Geography – year 2 created a practical map of our journey to Everton Park using colours and a key to represent the different landmarks

The Eco council really enjoyed their time at the Nature gardens this afternoon. We worked in groups to make our very own Bug hotels! We then placed these hotels around the garden.

We made protectors for our plants using recycled plastic bottles from home.

A huge congratulations to the Eco council who achieved their ‘Get up and Grow award’. They have really enjoyed the process and learnt so many new skills

This afternoon Year 2 went to our allotments to plants some bulbs with the eco council to ensure we are ready for spring @csergeant3 #olipscience #olipgeography
