World Book Day

World Book Day 2022!

Our children loved World Book Day this year! We enjoyed a whole-school celebration of our love of reading through various activities throughout the school day! Read on below to have a look at what activities took place!

Book Share!

Children throughout school brought some of their favourite books into school from home to share with their friends and discuss why they enjoy them so much!

Guest Reader!

Children voted for a special guest staff member to come to their class and read a story to them! The results came in and included various staff! We welcomed Mrs Gallagher back to OLI! Mrs Chute left her usual office space to read to key stage 1! Mr Cotton visited year 3, Mrs Burns joined year 5 and special guest Mrs Thoroughgood joined year 6 on her birthday!

Drop Everything & Read!

At exactly 10am, children calmly stopped doing their learning activities and simply enjoyed a book! We found it really therapeutic to simply stop and just read!

National Literacy Trust Footy Booky Live!

Children in lower key stage 2 enjoyed a live zoom reading quiz based all around a story involving football!

Story Boxes!

Children in key stage 1 created story boxes to show a story they enjoy in a creatively designed way!
