Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
At Our Lady Immaculate, we embrace the fact that every child is different and therefore the educational need of each child will vary. This is certainly the case for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
Many children have additional needs at some point during their time at Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School. This is not to say that these children will be working below age related expectations academically in every instance. Additional needs may be related to health, emotions, behaviour or learning. We aim to identify and address these needs through our school’s inclusive practice.
Key Contacts
The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) is Mrs Bowcock.
She can be contacted via the school office: 0151 260 8957 or through email: admin@oliprimaryschool.co.uk
The SEND Link Governor is Miss Annemarie Smith & Mrs C Lawler.
Our Intent
Pupils with an identified Special Educational Need and/or Disability (SEND) at Our Lady Immaculate School are fully included in all aspects of school life and are given appropriate support to access the curriculum to reach their full potential and succeed in life, in accordance with The National Curriculum in England Key Stages 1 and 2 framework 2013, The Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 and Special educational needs and disability code of practice: 0 – 25 years 2015.
Any learner may have special educational needs at some point during their time in school and therefore a wide variety of strategies will be used to meet the needs as they are identified. Parents and carers are supported in seeking advice and implementing strategies they need to create an environment to fulfil their child’s potential, both in school and at home.
If you are concerned about your child or require support with your child’s needs, please contact Mrs. C.Bowcock, SENCO to arrange a meeting.
The SENCO ensures that all staff follow the SEND Code of Practice to support the needs of our pupils. This may be provided through carefully differentiated work, additional support by an adult in a small group or 1-1 through precision teaching. They may also receive small group or 1-1 teaching time with a teaching assistant or receive outreach support from specialist services in a small group or 1-1 basis.

Liverpool Parent and Carers Forum-LivPaC
Liverpool Parent and Carers Forum (LivPaC) is a group of parents and carers of children and young people with special education needs and/or disabilities (SEND) who work with education, health and care services.
“Alone, we can do so little. BUT together we CAN do so MUCH”
Through their participation and co-production, they work to create a culture across all services which places need of families at the centre of the decision making.
Below is a link to LivPac which holds a wealth of resources which may provide useful in supporting your child and your family.
As Parenting Co-ordinator for Liverpool City Council, I am proud that we can offer parents across the city a platform to share their stories whilst offering resources from across a wide spectrum of organisations to support parents on their journey.
It has been a privilege to pull these SEND blogs and information together and I would like to thank the parents, LivPac and our partners for their support and assistance in piecing this jigsaw of information together. Chris Cavanagh
