Our Lady Immaculate catering service is part of Food for Thought(Merseyside)Ltd.This is a unique ‘not for profit’ healthy school meals caterer. It is a company owned and managed by its partner schools with any surplus created being re-invested in our local community schools.
Our school meals use organic produce, locally sourced whenever possible and our cook works very closely with all suppliers to ensure organic, free-range and sustainable food stocks are available to our school kitchen. In the summer months we even use produce from our own school allotments in the kitchen.
Food for Thought works hard to consistently raise the standards of quality and presentation in all kitchens. Unlike any other school meals’ company, FFT Ltd does not impose any rigid levels of portion control – pupils are allowed to choose the quantity of food they feel they need. In this way, we focus our meals’ service on the needs of pupils themselves.
Our cook also meets with the school council each term to review the school menu’s to ensure that the children’s favourite meals are being served. At these meetings the children can offer suggestions to the cook and discuss any issues that have been raised from the children in school.
A school meal currently costs £1.50 per day (£1.30 during COVID pandemic) and the children can choose from a daily menu of;
- a hot or cold lunch including a bowl of freshly made soup
- the salad bar
- a healthy desert including fresh fruit, yoghurt, scones ,crackers and cheese etc
- fresh water is available on each table and the children may also choose milk.
