Careers & Aspirations Week

We welcomed parents and friends from all over the school to talk to us about a variety of careers. We listened very carefully to Mr Lawler who is a Personal Advisor. We enjoyed learning about how we can support our communities and train to also be a PA. Thank you Kenny !

Today Year 4 welcomed 2 midwives into school to talk about their careers and how they perform their daily jobs. We were so interested in how they learnt how to be mid wives and how they helped mums and deliver their babies.

Thank you so much Jen & Imogen.

Today we decided to switch off all our electrical devices in school and spend the day reconnecting with each other, without the need for electricity! This was a day to think about saving energy and helping our planet.

we started the day by classes becoming reading buddies across school and supporting each other with reading.

Break time involved classes playing together from different Key Stages!

Lunch time involved classes having grab bags outside as no electrical equipment could be used in the kitchen. We had grab bags and ate outside with our friends.

During the afternoon we all joined together and made a whole school chain to show us all reconnecting to each other!

The Eco council were invited to the recycling centre to find out the process of recycling and where our rubbish is taken. We found out what items can and cannot be recycled and what the recycled goods can be made into!

ASD Social Interactions / Play Workshop

We were invited to the Rotunda for a campfire and we also learnt lots of other outdoor skills and knowledge to take with us!

Today year 3 and 4 were introduced to an Emirates Pilot! He shared with the children his dream of becoming a pilot and how he achieved this dream. He also told the children about his early career as a helicopter pilot and what he loves most about his job.

Year 4 have been exploring making phones using only tin cans and string, we learnt that sound waves travel through the vibrations in the string.

Year 4 explored structures and pavilions and then we challenged ourselves to a tower building competition using only toothpicks, jelly tots, and marshmallows.

Early Years are looking forward to The Easter Bunny arriving and are preparing to make him feel very welcome .

Attached is the feedback from the IQM assessment day. It is so lovely and everyone should be so proud of their achievements and the feedback we received. It is attached for you to all read in full detail BUT I have pulled out a few quotes that will inspire!
Thank you to you all; as the Assessor commented:

“OLI has a deep and continued commitment to inclusion.”

A parent said, ‘they don’t know how good they are because it’s so natural.’”

There is a lively atmosphere in the school canteen where excellent food is prepared by friendly staff.

Children attending OLI certainly get a good deal.”

“The IQM targets set and achieved at OLI serve to complement and enhance the inclusive ethos of the school.”

“They work well together and ‘enjoy a laugh.’ This is something that I personally value greatly. A happy staff means happy pupils.”

“I was particularly struck by how older children engage with each other in lessons. As 1 pupil speaks, the class would turn to show interest and display active listening.”

“It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with staff and children, and I feel inspired and enthused to trial ideas in my own school.”

“Comments from stakeholders’ centre around the school being ‘warm,’ ‘amazing,’ and ‘like home.’ I would fully agree with these quotes. All staff, including cooks, the site manager, learning support, and Governors, clearly articulate the same ethos and enjoy being there. External support staff expressed how this is ‘comfortably the best school they work in.”

“Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School is an exceptionally inclusive school.”

“It was lovely to see the early years children practising self-regulation through peer massage as part of the MISP programme. (Massage in Schools Programme). Clearly, this is embedded as a regular feature, and very young children were showing care and empathy towards their peers.”

“Observation of ZOR in Early Years area showed staff well-deployed to support children unable to fully mix with mainstream, but still receiving entitlement.”

“There is a lot of evidence that staff at OLI are very well trained,”

“Diversity in the curriculum is apparent”

Thank you everyone!

These children were chosen to attend the Liverpool Legends vs Chelsea Legends Game due to their consistent hard work and attitude towards work. They had a brilliant day!

This week we have been focusing on how we can encourage peace in the world around us. Key Stage One then wrote promises about how they would encourage peace and we placed them on our Peace tree in the school office.
Key Stage Two, thought about Wars going on in the world and how we need to pray for all people involved. We wrote prayers that will be shared with families, we have also made prayers to be handed out in our local Church.
