We loved the effort everyone went to today. Everyone’s Easter bonnet was fabulous and unique. We loved showing them off to the other year groups!
Today we started out journey through Holy Week by joining in with the Palm Sunday assembly. We listened, sang and shared out understanding of this scripture.
We ended the day with our Big Lent Walk. Thankyou to all our families who joined us and donated.
Today we re-enacted the scripture to gain a deeper understanding and put ourselves in the disciples shoes.
We have loved exploring dynamics, levels, actions and expression during our dance sessions. We have been able to follow, create and perform movement in counts of eight to create a piece of choreography based on our class text ‘Where the Wild Things are.’

“It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with staff and children, and I feel inspired and enthused to trial ideas in my own school.”
“Comments from stakeholders’ centre around the school being ‘warm,’ ‘amazing,’ and ‘like home.’ I would fully agree with these quotes. External support staff expressed how this is ‘comfortably the best school they work in.”
“Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School is an exceptionally inclusive school.”
“It was lovely to see the early years children practising self-regulation through peer massage as part of the MISP programme. (Massage in Schools Programme). Clearly, this is embedded as a regular feature, and very young children were showing care and empathy towards their peers.”
“Observation of ZOR in Early Years area showed staff well-deployed to support children unable to fully mix with mainstream, but still receiving entitlement.”
“There is a lot of evidence that staff at OLI are very well trained,”
“Diversity in the curriculum is apparent”
Thank you everyone!
Thank you so much to everyone for their support and donations towards our sponsored event with Michael Churm. The children had an amazing morning training with the Paralympian and raising lots of money for new school sports equipment! Well done to everybody involved!
Year 1 have been learning all about animals including humans within their Science lessons so decided to keep this going during Science Week. The children explored how they could categorize animals by their features and talk about why they needed these features.
The children then created their own animals and could talk about how the features of it allowed it to be adapted for a specific habitat!
It was wonderful to listen to, learn about and share the experiences of the many others cultures children within our class experience with their family. We were able to learn about differences within traditional dress, language and the types of food that are made and eaten. We all enjoyed trying the variety of foods a very kind parent had cooked for us, it was delicious!

We enjoyed exploring our vehicle text ‘ Hermelin the Detective Mouse’! We used role play and creative activities to immerse ourselves in the characters from the story.
During Science lessons we learned about the season of Winter and got to explore the snow. Within learning about ‘Animals including Humans’ we labelled parts of our body and used the sense of taste to try a range of sweet, sour, salty and bitter foods!
We have been very busy using ball skills within Rugby Tots sessions and learning about balance during gymnastics too!
We love our computing sessions with Mr Moffat. We can use algorithms to complete a range of apps and games independently.
In DT we have been learning about healthy and unhealthy foods. We have explored our favourite fruits and vegetable and are deciding which ones we would use to make a salad. We have been practicing our chipping skills by using the bridge and claw method. We enjoyed eating all the healthy food that we had chopped up!
To finish our dance sessions linked to the Circus, we used hoops to choreograph a routine. We had to keep contact with the hoop, use different levels and think about the ways we could move our bodies as a team!
As we have been learning all about her, we walked to Everton Park to explore the memorial and recall facts we already know!
