We enjoyed the physical and art skill of ‘marbling’ with large marbles. @oli_nursery loved noticing the marks they could make and colours they could mix when marbling. #olipart #markmaking @oli_primary @csergeant3 @DeputyOLI @EarlyExcellence @sil_eyfs

We continue to be an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence !???

Attached is the feedback from the IQM assessment day. It is so lovely and everyone should be so proud of their achievements and the feedback we received. It is attached for you to all read in full detail BUT I have pulled out a few quotes that will inspire!
Thank you to you all; as the Assessor commented:

“OLI has a deep and continued commitment to inclusion.”

A parent said, ‘they don’t know how good they are because it’s so natural.’”

There is a lively atmosphere in the school canteen where excellent food is prepared by friendly staff.

Children attending OLI certainly get a good deal.”

“The IQM targets set and achieved at OLI serve to complement and enhance the inclusive ethos of the school.”

“They work well together and ‘enjoy a laugh.’ This is something that I personally value greatly. A happy staff means happy pupils.”

“I was particularly struck by how older children engage with each other in lessons. As 1 pupil speaks, the class would turn to show interest and display active listening.”

“It was an absolute pleasure to spend a day with staff and children, and I feel inspired and enthused to trial ideas in my own school.”

“Comments from stakeholders’ centre around the school being ‘warm,’ ‘amazing,’ and ‘like home.’ I would fully agree with these quotes. All staff, including cooks, the site manager, learning support, and Governors, clearly articulate the same ethos and enjoy being there. External support staff expressed how this is ‘comfortably the best school they work in.”

“Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School is an exceptionally inclusive school.”

“It was lovely to see the early years children practising self-regulation through peer massage as part of the MISP programme. (Massage in Schools Programme). Clearly, this is embedded as a regular feature, and very young children were showing care and empathy towards their peers.”

“Observation of ZOR in Early Years area showed staff well-deployed to support children unable to fully mix with mainstream, but still receiving entitlement.”

“There is a lot of evidence that staff at OLI are very well trained,”

“Diversity in the curriculum is apparent”

Thank you everyone!

Year 4 Aspirations and Careers Week.

Today Year 4 welcomed 2 midwives into school to talk about their careers and how they perform their daily jobs. We were so interested in how they learnt how to be mid wives and how they helped mums and deliver their babies.

Thank you so much Jen & Imogen.

Careers & Aspirations Week

We welcomed parents and friends from all over the school to talk to us about a variety of careers. We listened very carefully to Mr Lawler who is a Personal Advisor. We enjoyed learning about how we can support our communities and train to also be a PA. Thank you Kenny !

Making bonfire pictures in Nursery

The nursery children created their own bonfire pictures this week. We talked about firework safety and shared what they had seen in the sky during Bonfire Night. During the art process, the children explored a range of materials, including paint, glitter, and coloured paper, to represent fireworks and flames. They experimented with different tools and techniques such as splattering, dabbing, and layering to create movement and bright colours in their artwork. The children showed great creativity and enjoyed expressing their ideas through the process.
