Mission Statement

At Our Lady Immaculate, we are proud to be a Catholic school with a clear and purposeful mission:

“One Family Living and Learning Together in Faith.”

This mission shapes everything we do — from our daily lessons to our wider curriculum offer. We are committed to developing the whole child: academically, spiritually, morally, and socially.

Our aim is to

1. Provide a safe, caring environment where we share strong, positive relationships and have respect for ourselves and others.

2. Educate our children within our Catholic faith, fostering an awareness of oneself as a member of a family, school, parish and our wider community.

3. Raise standards and set high expectations for the personal development and  academic potential of all.

4. Encourage and support each child so that they develop the skills to become an integral member of our society today and in the future.

Mission Champions 2025-2026

At Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School, Mission Champions have been elected in each Key Stage 2 class to play a vital role in promoting our Catholic ethos. Chosen by their peers and teachers, these pupils are ambassadors for our mission statement, “One family living and learning together in faith.” They work to embed this message across the school community through their words and actions, encouraging kindness, respect and a strong sense of belonging. By supporting positive behaviour and leading by example, the Mission Champions help ensure that our shared values are lived out each day, strengthening our school as one family united in faith.

This year, we have introduced our mission statement prayer to the whole school as a meaningful way to deepen our shared faith and strengthen our sense of community. Beginning with gratitude for our school and the people we love, the prayer invites us to recognise ourselves as one family, living and learning together in faith. Through these words, pupils are encouraged to reflect on kindness and loving others as Jesus taught us. By praying this together regularly, the mission statement is brought to life, helping to guide our actions and attitudes each day.

Dear God,
Thank You for our school and the people we love.
Help us to be one family,
living and learning together in faith.
Help us to be kind, share, and love like Jesus.

Amen

We have also introduced a weekly certificate to recognise and celebrate pupils who demonstrate the qualities of our mission statement, “One family living and learning together in faith.” This award highlights children who show kindness, respect, cooperation and faith in their daily actions, reinforcing the importance of living out our values as a school community. By celebrating these positive examples each week, we encourage all pupils to take pride in contributing to our school family and to continue living and learning together guided by faith.

Staff have worked collaboratively within their key stages—EYFS, KS1, LKS2 and UKS2—to thoughtfully choose a piece of scripture that reflects the values, learning and spiritual journey of their area. Through prayerful discussion and reflection, each team selected scripture that is meaningful and age-appropriate, supporting pupils’ understanding of faith as they grow and develop. These scriptures will be displayed within each area of the school, serving as a visible reminder of God’s word and helping to nurture a shared sense of faith that underpins teaching and learning across all key stages.

This term, our Mission Champions have been working in class pairs to plan and lead collective worship sessions for all Key Stage 2 classes. They carefully selected scripture that supports the key messages of each worship and designed a meaningful takeaway for every child, class and class teacher to reflect upon. To complement this, Mission Boards have been created in each classroom, where key messages and resources from the collective worship sessions will be pinned as a working board for everyone to engage with throughout the term. The sessions are now underway and are going really well—pupils are engaged, thoughtful and inspired by their peers’ leadership. Seeing the Mission Champions take such responsibility and bring our mission to life makes me incredibly proud!

Our Mission Champions have also had the wonderful opportunity to go into EYFS to read with small groups of children. They have embraced this role with enthusiasm, sharing stories, encouraging a love of reading and helping younger pupils feel confident and supported. The EYFS children have loved having the Mission Champions in their classrooms! It has been a fantastic way for older pupils to demonstrate kindness, patience and care—truly living out our mission of “One family living and learning together in faith.”
