Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Primary School

EYFS Spring 2022

2 Year Old Room-

We have been very busy since returning after Christmas in our room. We have welcomed some new children into our class and they have all settled really well.
Since we have come back to school after Christmas we have been talking about the cold weather and have enjoyed listening to lots of stories about snowy days and animals who have a cold habitat.
The children have enjoyed playing with the artic animals in the ice and then noticing the changes as it melted.
Here are some photos from our first few weeks of Spring Term-
Nursery-
This half term we have been very busy in Nursery.
At the beginning of this term, we learned about patterns and had a go at making repeating patterns, with different materials.
We’ve been extremely busy mark making and are getting very good at drawing recognisable pictures and trying to write our names.
This week, we celebrated Chinese New Year in Nursery and took part in lots of activities, such as writing numbers in Mandarin, finding out how Chinese people prepare and celebrate New Year and trying some delicious Chinese food in our Nursery Restaurant!
Here are some photos of all the things we have bee up to this half term-

Reception-
This term we have begun learning about the world around us. The children took photos of around our School and we spoke about where we live. We have also started learning about the Polar Regions as a contrast to our environment.
In Maths we have continued to look at one number a week, learning number bonds to 5 and 6  and exploring addition and subtraction within these numbers.
The children are making fantastic progress and are applying their phonic knowledge when writing in the continuous provision.
This term we have Rugby Tots for our PE sessions. The children have had lots of fun throwing, catching and developing their agility through obstacle courses and races.
