Key stage one is made up of 4 classes, 2 in year 1 and 2 in year 2. The Year 1 teachers are Mrs Bradley and Mrs Bowcock and their learning support assistant is Miss Hughes. The teachers in Year 2 are Mrs Rimmer and Miss Whittaker with Mrs O’Leary, Miss Mercer and Mrs Garrity as their learning support assistants.
As a team we work hard to ensure children are provided with a stimulating, fun and balanced curriculum that challenges and stretches each individual child. Learning takes places in many ways such as continuous provision, paired and group activities as well as opportunities for independent learning.
Although Literacy and Numeracy is at the forefront of our curriculum every day, we explore these topics through creative activities and following our children interests. We do this to ensure they experience a broad and balanced curriculum that supports their social and emotional well-being and allows them to build on their self-esteem, resilience and communication skills.
In addition to the learning that takes place in class, we also have specialist teachers who support us in delivering P.E, Music, ICT and Spanish sessions throughout the year.
As a team we are proud to teach KS1 and always insist on supporting each other through sharing positive behaviour, celebrating success and including everyone in everything we do.
Our aim is for children to leave KS1 equipped with the skills needed to continue their learning into KS2.
